About Your Teacher
I was ten years old when I first painted with watercolour, taught by Singapore artist Mr Tan Kay Nguan. I've been learning ever since, from him and later from other local artists like Mr Tham Pui San, Mr Foo Kwee Horng and Mr Nam Siang. What keeps me coming back to this medium, decades later, is how little of it you actually control. The water moves where it wants. Your job is just to make good choices along the way, and let the rest happen. I try to teach that same freedom to everyone who sits down with me.
